Assador Típico I occupies
a centenary building where D. Manuel II used to live in his trips
to Oporto. A few years later the house was bought by the
Calém family (Port Wine makers), but only in the 80's its ground
floor was rented to Mr. Mário Figueiredo and Mr.
Emídio Silva.
It
is when, in April 1984, that one of the first grills in the city
of Oporto is born. In that same year is created a company by
the name of Brito, Mendes e Rodrigues, Lda., composed by
the following partners:
·
Mário Rodrigues Figueiredo
·
Emídio Brito da Silva
·
José Alberto Oliveira Mendes Brochado
·
José Francisco Bruçó (today
represented by his sons
Manuel Bruçó and Fátima Bruçó)
In
that time the restaurant's capacity was 92 persons, and the owners
started specializing in grilled food - the veal chop, the grilled
octopus, the special steak and the oven baked codfish are just a
few of the ancient specialties. From that time on, the
restaurant started to grow famous and five years later, Assador Típico I
had the double of its original capacity.
Nowadays,
we are one of the biggest restaurants in town, with a
305 seated places capacity. All of this has happened because
we kept the same quality, both in the attendance and in the
ingredients - the national meat and the fresh fish.
We
are waiting for your visit - come and taste our specialties... |
